While Cardinal Bank keeps your Online Banking experience secure, we also need you to do your part to ensure your computer and Online Banking information are kept secure. Here are some easy tips to keep your Online Banking sessions secure:

  • Install and regularly update anti-virus and anti-spyware software
    • There are a variety of anti-virus and anti-spyware software options available to you to help detect and remove computer viruses, malware and trojans which are designed to infiltrate or damage your computer.
    • Use these software programs to help protect your computer and Internet sessions.
    • Regularly update the software for maximum security. 
  • Ensure your Online Banking User ID is strong
    • Your Online Banking User ID should be between 6 and 20 characters and include at least one alpha character and one numeric character. Never use your Social Security Number or other easy-to-guess IDs.
    • You can change your Online Banking User ID quickly and easily in Online Banking.
    • Simply log in and click on User Options. Then, click on Change User ID and follow the screen prompts.
  • Ensure your Online Banking Password is strong
    • Your Online Banking password should be between 8 and 20 characters and include upper and lower case letters and numbers and a special character.
    • Never use passwords that would be easy for someone to guess such as birth dates, names, addresses, phone numbers or Social Security Numbers.
    • You can change your Online Banking Password quickly and easily in Online Banking.
    • Simply log in and click on User Options. Then, click on Change Password and follow the screen prompts.
  • Never share your Online Banking login credentials
    • Never reveal your password to another person.
    • Periodically change your password in the User Option section of Online Banking.
  • Monitor your accounts regularly
    • Monitor your accounts each month to ensure there are no unauthorized transactions. If you see unauthorized transactions, please contact us immediately.
    • Set alerts on your accounts so that you’ll be notified whenever an account balance goes below a threshold you select, whenever online bill payments are being sent or when a check has cleared.
    • To set your alerts, log in to Online Banking, click on Account Access and then Notifications.
